Worship during the pandemic

Suggestions for worship opportunities and how to help others in worship can be found here, including service sheets to be printed at home. For those Methodists feeling the loss of communion, there is a short act of spiritual communion.

Streamed services

A selection of streamed Methodist services are taking place online. The list of services, produced with current guidelines in place, can be found here.


The government has announced that places of worship in England may re-open from 4 July 2020 for services. Our Property Team is working on what Managing Trustees will need to consider in order to re-open buildings and we will update our website as soon as is practicably possible. We will also be releasing a special service to celebrate a return to public worship. Guidance an be found here.

The Methodist Conference

Service with President and Vice-President

The President and Vice-President of the Methodist Conference will be participating in the streamed service from Methodist Central Hall Westminster this Sunday. The service will be available on YouTube from 10.55am.

This year’s Methodist Conference will take place online.

Conference sessions will be live streamed, including the Induction of the President and Vice-President and Reception into Full Connexion, both of which will take place on Saturday 27 June.

Connexional Team Stand

Each year at the Methodist Conference there is a Connexional Team stand. Here, the team displays a range of resources, usually available in print, online and on sale through Methodist Publishing. This year, the stand will be online but still able to provide links and direct people to where physical resources can be ordered. Click here for more details.

Local radio interviews

Many BBC local radio stations will be carrying interviews with the President and Vice-President, as well as District Chairs, in their Sunday morning faith programmes this weekend.

Beckly lecture 

This year's Beckly Lecture, which takes place on Monday 29 June at 7pm, will be delivered by the Revd Dr Inderjit Bhogal on how we can respond with integrity to God's call for justice and peace. Book here.



Young Chorister of the Year

Songs of Praise and BBC Radio 2 have joined forces to find The BBC Young Chorister Of The Year. Former choristers Aled Jones and Katherine Jenkins will coach the 5 boys and 5 girls aged 10-16 who are selected to go through to the radio and television competition, where they will sing in front of an expert panel of judges.

The Joint Public Issues Team, in partnership with the Methodist Young Adults Vocation Development Programme, offer two year, paid internships working part time with JPIT and part time with a Labour or Conservative MP in the House of Commons. Learn more here. A webinar for those considering applying will take place next Tuesday (30 June), 5.30pm-6.15pm.

The Methodist Conference

The Conference is the governing body of the Methodist Church and meets annually to discuss matters affecting the life of the Church, the nation and the world. The Methodist Council has agreed that the Conference cannot meet as planned in Telford in June and has decided that it will meet virtually this year.

Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast

Join parliamentarians, Church leaders & Christians from across the UK to pray and reflect on the hope & peace the Christian faith offers our society. A National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast will take place Tuesday 30 June, 8.30-9.00am.  Sign up here.

Action for Children Sunday is on 12 July this year, but you can hold your service whenever you like. Materials are availablhere to help you to plan a special service.
