Mission and Evangelism
We have good news to share!
God is love.
God is alive.
God is drawing people to himself.
God desires the whole creation to know him & worship him.
Could you share this good news with someone else? Here’s a video of some people’s responses to the question ‘What does it mean to have your life touched by God?’. Do you feel the same? What would your response be?
Mission is part of the DNA of Methodism. We were born to be a missionary movement sharing the love, peace & hope of God through Jesus Christ to whoever we meet in whatever circumstances.
Each of us has a part to play in God’s mission to the world. We may not think we are ‘evangelists’ and that is true - we’re not all called & gifted in that way…
We are, though, called to be witnesses to God’s power & grace through the way we live our lives. Everything we do & say should point people towards God.
The Lancashire Methodist district take the call to “… go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew chapter 28 verses 19-20) very seriously.
A few years ago we spent a year looking at evangelism and seeing where God was leading us. Amongst other things we produced three resources for churches to use - a resource menu, a worship series called ‘I am Sending You’ and a weekly task in which to share your faith. If you and your church would like to use them again then please feel free to download them & put them to good use.
Two events we would like our churches to get involved over the next couple of months are ‘HALO’ & ‘Here I Am’.
‘HALO’ (Helping And Loving Others) is a time when we are encouraging everyone to go out bless their community. It could be that you tidy gardens, wash cars, offer free tea & coffee, organise a tea dance … whatever it is we want you to offer friendship, service & hospitality in order to make new & develop already established relationships. If you are interested in how you could get involved download the flier or get in touch with me.
‘Here I Am’ involves a QR code, smart phone devices & 1 minute stories of what God means to ordinary people and how he helps them in their day to day lives. We have printed the code on beermats, small business cards, A5 & A4 posters. Want to know more? Click on the link below.
The following videos have been produced from around the Lancashire Methodist District in order to engage people in conversation about the Christian faith. Please feel free to download them and pass them on. You may download and distribute them freely however, you may not edit or add to the content and you may not use them in a derogatory or defamatory manner. All copyright remains with the producers of the videos. For futher information on how you may use these videos please contact the Lancashire Methodist District Office tel: 01772 721527 or email.
