Lancashire Methodist District

The Methodist ChurchSeptember 2021
North West & Mann Learning Network Region
The Methodist Church

Familiar but different:
is that a good description of emerging church life as we reflect on what the past 18 months have taught us?  Three questions that might be helpful for you in circuits and churches to consider:

~ What have you learned about your church and/or circuit during the pandemic?

~ What have you learnt about your community/world during the pandemic?

~ What have you learnt about yourself and God during the pandemic?

I encourage you to hold on to that learning and use it as part of discerning your place together in God’s mission in the coming months and years.

The makeup of the Learning Network in the region may also be familiar but different as I started the Coordination role single-handed from 1 September - I include a snapshot in case you don’t yet know me!  I am all about the very capable team (listed below) I coordinate whose backgrounds are diverse and rich.  It is our privilege to serve the region and the Connexion to enable circuits to fulfil their calling and be places of lifelong learning.

Not all of our work is events/training based.  We are holding some capacity particularly to respond to requests from circuits and churches as they emerge from the pandemic to review their vocation, their mission, their organisation or their sustainability.  Do get in touch with your District Aligned Officer or me to have a conversation about how the Learning Network can be of use to you in your circuit – conversations can be so much more fruitful than webpages!  We will continue to gather communities of practice to enable sharing and learning together.

Our calendar at the bottom of our webpage on the Methodist church website carries our most up-to-date information on what events we offer at the moment The North West and Mann Region.

Please share the information with others in your district, circuit or church.  If we can get some of this information into the notices we would be thrilled!

A Covid-safe team: as a team, we are privileged to be invited as your guests into venues and settings that others kindly set up and organise.  To keep the team and others safe we request Covid secure measures be in place.  For example, good ventilation, availability of hand gel/wipes, space between seats and encouragement of participants to take lateral flow tests if possible and avoid attending if displaying symptoms or testing positive for Covid-19.  We will do the same.  Thank you for your understanding.
