North West & Mann Learning Network Region
The Methodist Church

This is a familiar season in the Methodist Church when we begin to say goodbye to some and get ready to welcome others.

There have been some strange goodbyes over the last 15 months on Zoom, with lots of waving and repeating of ‘goodbye’ and people not actually managing to leave!

Sometimes it's hard to say goodbye

Alison Ransome has been coordinator of the Learning Network since its formation in 2013 and is now sort-of saying goodbye!

As you know, Alison Ball and Alison Ransome have been sharing the role of Coordinator for two years.  From September, Alison B will coordinate the team in this region and Alison R will work full time in the Ministries team, for one year.  During the remaining two months of this Connexional year, Alison Ransome and Alison Ball will be working closely to ensure a smooth transition.

I (Alison R) am very proud of this team, including how we have ‘pivoted’ during the pandemic, are still building strong relationships, and offering excellent learning and development opportunities.

Please do continue to pray for Alison B and the team as they move to a hybrid world, and for me, and the Ministries team, as we develop work on Local Lay Pastors, Vocations, Ministerial well-being and much more.

Finally for now, there are some amazing opportunities to come and work in the Connexional team for people aged 18-30, do read this even if you are over 30 (!) and please do pass it on to all the young people in your church, this could be just the right thing at the right time for them.

ONE Programme: Leadership has ten jobs available across Britain for people aged 18-30, starting in September 2021.

Three of these roles are in the NWM.  The roles are all open to all young people in the Connexion – so if you live here you could apply for roles elsewhere.

There are a variety of roles based around sharing faith in local churches and projects in yearlong, paid, training-provided, full-time and part-time jobs.
