Mission Pioneer (OPL)

Up Holland, West Lancashire
The Mission Pioneer would help to lead the work
of starting new Christian communities, and developing mission activities, to
reach the 42,000 people in the local area around Up Holland. This is centred
around the Methodist Church’s commitment to connect with New People, and to
form New Places, by God’s grace, that express the love of Christ so that we can
all be transformed. At The Beacon Churches, we believe that this is only
possible through church unity expressed in effective local ecumenical
relationships.
The role would involve sharing the gospel with people from different cultures,
including young adults, through:
- Identifying opportunities for mission in contexts that are unreached by
churches, and leading the development of new
mission activities in these
places.
- Finding new ways of sharing the gospel with young adults.
- Contributing to the development of a pipeline for missional leaders by
encouraging and inspiring disciples to be actively
involved in mission.
- Leading through personal example of prayer and having conversations with
people who are enquiring about or new to
Christian faith to help them grow as
disciples
- Supporting the growth of new Christian communities, including those which
have been recently planted, through developing
and leading creative forms of
worship
There is flexibility within the role for the
successful candidate’s gifts, passions, and hopes for exploring vocation and
gaining new skills, to be incorporated.
