Shawshank Redemption CCLRG (Film and Book Group)
Saturday 19th August 2023, 9.30 - 11.00 am / Wednesday 23rd August 2023, 7.00 - 8.30 pm
About this Event
This is a group for you if:
You want to learn how to theologically reflect on contemporary culture. Develop ideas of how to use books and films in your preaching.
Be able to theologically reflect on the content of secular books or films and think how to use them in small groups or missional outreach groups. Meet with others to discuss in a book/film group to discuss the content from a Christian faith point of view.
It's open to all but will be particularly useful if you are a local preacher, worship leader, small group leader, book group facilitator or run a film club in your church. We expect you to read the book or watch the film in advance and come ready to discuss.
We'll be running two sessions each month; a Saturday morning and Wednesday evening. You can choose which suits your schedule best each time.

Godly Play Training
The Lancashire District Godly Play Bus Project is hosting some Godly Play Training. This will take place at
Ingol Methodist Church, Tag Lane, PR2 3XA from 28th-30th September, 9.30 am - 6.00 pm inclusive
The full details can be found on the Godly Play UK website www.godlyplay.uk/events/three-day-core-training-preston/
This is a 3-day training course, covering the Core Skills for Storytelling and Door-keeping. Please consider whether this is something you feel you would like to do. There is the possibility that if you do feel you would like to attend the training and offer time to be part of the Godly Play Bus Project, offering the gifts and skills you have acquired, then the District Project could support you. I think normally for any training the participant pays one third, then the circuit and the district contribute two thirds of the cost if they are able to from their training budget.
Please let me know if you would be interested in attending the training and also book direct with Godly Play UK using the link above. Please also let me know if you are interested in being part of the team and we can begin the recruitment process, Deacon Kim Gabbatiss (kim.gabbatiss@methodist.org.uk)
Godly Play is an amazing way to share the Big Story of God.
